London Broncos pitch to be inspected ahead of Saints opener

A PITCH inspection is expected to take place at the Stoop tomorrow morning ahead of Saints’ Super League opener against London Broncos.
Sub zero temperatures throughout this week have led the Broncos to cover the playing surface and the ground will be checked at about 8am on Saturday ahead of the afternoon kick off.
A Broncos spokesman said: “The pitch has been covered all week. We think it should be fine and that it is not going to be frozen.”
However, checks of the pitch were due to be made today to assess whether Saints’ under 20s visit to the Broncos – the curtain raiser to the Super league game - should go ahead or be postponed to allow greater protection to the playing surface.
The spokesman added there had been conflicting forecasts about potential snowfall in Twickenham over the next 24 hours.
