Love Saints – Love St Helens town centre campaign to launch

A GIANT pavement graphic of Saints' iconic red vee is to be unveiled this morning by hundreds of schoolchildren in St Helens town centre to kick off a new campaign.

The pupils from Allanson Street Primary School, Parr, will also perform a choreographed march to the club anthem, When the Saints Go Marching In.

The event is one of the highlights of the Love Saints – Love St Helens campaign, which aims to boost retailers and venues in the town centre.

It follows the creation of Saints’ £30m Langtree Park home on the fringe of the town centre.

The drive will also see Saints players – including homegrown stars Paul Wellens, Gary Wheeler, Jonny Lomax and Paul Clough – tour town centre stores to meet and greet shoppers, sign autographs and thank fans for their support.

Shops and venues throughout the town centre are carrying campaign-themed posters and decorations.

Regeneration leaders hope the arrival of Langtree Park on the fringe of the town centre will bring an economic boost to bars, restaurants and retailers as well as lifting civic pride.

The stadium, at Peasley Cross, is a short walk from the town centre.
