Special constable arrested burglar on her first day
8:45am Tuesday 21st February 2012

A BURGLAR arrested by a special constable who was on her first day of duty has been jailed for ten months.
Lee Kenyon, 33, was spotted running through St Helens town centre by two officers on Wednesday, February 15.
They gave chase and arrested him on suspicion of theft from a local shop. After searching Kenyon, he was found to have a small amount of cannabis and heroin as well as a Blackberry phone stolen in a burglary in January at St Helens College.
He was also wanted in connection with a burglary at Rainford Labour Club on Christmas Day, in which money was taken.
Kenyon, from Whalley Avenue on the Hard Lane estate, was charged with two burglaries, theft, shoplifting and possession of heroin and cannabis.
He pleaded guilty to the offences at Knowsley Magistrates’ Court.
Inspector Jerry Harris said: “This was a good arrest for the officers, in particular for the special constable who was on her first shift with us.
“Our officers continue to work hard to detect and prevent crimes in St Helens and will act on all information we receive.”
