Winter survival packs for vulnerable residents

WINTER survival packs containing a hat, scarf, gloves and temperature gauge are being handed out to vulnerable people at a series of events.
St Helens Council, Age UK Mid Mersey and Senior Voice hope that by teaming up they will help residents keep warm without breaking the bank.
One event has already taken place at the Mansion House in Victoria Park, where packs were distributed and new freephone number 08000 355 878 was promoted that will offer people advice about how to keep warm.
They highlighted what assistance is available to help people stay safe and warm during winter. Winter survival packs were distributed containing hat, scarf, gloves, card temperature gauge, hand warmer and advice booklet.
A limited number of packs – one per person - will be distributed on a first come first served basis.
Further distribution venues for packs have been arranged at: Derbyshire Hill Family and Community Centre on Thursday, February 9, 10am and 2pm.
Rainhill Scout Group, Old Lane, Rainhill on Saturday, February 11, 9am to 1pm.
Scout Hut, Birley Street, Newton-le-Willows on Saturday, February 18, 1am to 2pm.
Rainhill Scout Group, Deepdale Drive, Rainhill on Saturday, February 25, 2pm to 4pm.
